Calderwood will be a major boost to local employment, businesses and will have the capacity to help rejuvenate Camps Industrial Estate. A great example of sustainability with employment opportunities within walking distance of the new community.
Camps industrial estate, which borders Calderwood, could be described as an 'ugly duckling' sitting in this scenic area.
It has a lot of vacant or available premises and it could really do with an economic boost.
The size and scale of the Calderwood development will offer a host of opportunities for local, existing and new businesses during construction. There will also be an improved long term business climate with an increased local population.
Where possible we want residents to be able to have the opportunity to walk to work. Employment opportunities will be created and encouraged within Calderwood the new community and at Camps in order to achieve this.
We would also like to create opportunities for local tradesmen and apprentices to participate in this large development.
