Calderwood Design Competition Winners Announced
Stirling Developments announced the winners of the 2009 Calderwood design competition at 26 Rutland Square on 17th July 2009. We were delighted with the quality of entries for the competition.

Winner of the new house typology category for the Meadowwood neighbourhood was Craig Amy with a subtle barn form (shown above) which we felt was successful on a number of levels; its simplicity of form; the sensitive grouping of the individual homes to create a communal homezone; & its potential for being realized in a relatively economic manner.

Runners up Amin Taha produced a beautiful design which would be flooded with natural light through clever sectional treatment, however the jury felt that the design would be more sucessful as a single, luxury home rather than spread over an entire neighbourhood.

Joint runner up, City Architecture Office designed a simple form, reminiscent of agrarian structures & capable of accommodating a range of cladding treatments to create visual interest. Simple detailing & a good connection to the sites key characteristics were noted by the jury as particularly pleasing.

The winner of the mixed use community building category was Laurence Wood.
A unanimous decision from the judging panel, the beautifully hand illustrated drawings were strongly evocative of how the building would sit in its landscape & in particular the connection to the key water feature of the proposed development was welcomed.
Laurence has an illustration business which can be contacted through their website at www.whitepaperstudio.350.com
